But recently I returned to it, played it, studied it along with the text, and was amazed. You are truly a world class quitarist, on a par with Segovia, or better. That was clear as soon as I listened very carefully to your crystal-clear notes. Forgotten Songs is exquisite; I've played them over and over; playing with guest artists was a stroke of genius. I think your influence has persuaded me to play it this way, your way, slow down that, my dump-truck. The sound was nothing to apologize about. Most excellent sound! How did you decide on the tempo for the Carcassi A minor?  I haven't purchased another copy of this yet, so I don't know how other guitarists play it.  I thought it was supposed to be faster?  Yours sounds great, though. Call me crazy, but I think your Sor B minor sounds better than Segovia's!  As I remember he tried to put too much rubato into every measure.  Your's is really nice. 1095.         I like them. It's entertainment. It is listenable, and folk with no special interest in CG would buy them happily. If Reza was to accidentally drop in to an Edinburgh pub and find a flute player and fiddle player, he'd probably oblige them to reveal a few classical pieces as well as the usual O'Carolan and trad.anon - and be very well received.

1096.         It's unusual to find a guitarist who is willing to let the instrument play all its roles - as an understated accompaniment, allowing other musicians front of stage, as well as a solo performance. I have particular empathy with that as I really enjoy providing accompaniment to other musicians (nothing really puts as big a grin on my face as hearing something well played and thinking I am not wrecking it!).

1099.         And Angelo Gilardino's pieces which Reza has performed are ABSOLUTELY in the tradition. Their connection to the variations, structures and underlying motifs of European music from 300-100 years ago is amazingly clear, and it's almost as if a couple of centuries of composers for drawing-rooms and salons from Ireland to Hungary have found voices again.  As it's past 1.00am I am probably writing nonsense. working too late. ~David K.

1100.         Actually, though Reza's CD's *are* pleasant to listen to. He plays very musical... he does deliver good music. In fact, it is a refreshing foil to my listening. ~SW

1101.         Look, there are many people who would buy Reza's CD and just love it, yet be bored with a CP CD.  Different strokes for different folks.  He and his group joined efforts and produced something that took their individual talents and elevated it, which is still nothing to sneeze at..  A lot of players who (perhaps) play a lot better have done a lot less.  I hope that made and continue to make a bundle.  If he just got $1 from every person who might enjoy it, he could retire.  You just have to find them when they have that dollar handy.

1103.         I'll say again, I like the Cd's. I think we could all learn from them. The Cd's are what they are and aren't what they're not. A little bit of this can go a long way in a performance and can provide relief to a demanding (either on the player or listener's part) program. After hearing a big monster Sor piece that doesn't get played enough, some large and obscure sonata published this year, and (you fill in the blank) it is nice to hear in the second half at least a little bit of Tarrega, Malats or whatever else. Itzhak Perlman is one I've seen do this type of program well. It simply works. We need variation. I'm afraid so many are concerned with finding unknown gems, that music like this doesn't get a little bit of attention. In music like this, you can't hide. And Reza does a pretty good job with it, and is more musical than many world class players I will respectfully not name. ~SW

How did you get that picture on the cover of the vibrating guitar strings? a friend, Goran Gaspar took it - it's actually a collage of 2 photos – in one the guitar body was cut off so we used the other's body to complete it. Great shot!  I assume those are your fingers.  It looks like the strings are vibrating on either side of the sound hole, but not right over the sound hole where you're plucking them. this was purely natural - no effect - let's call it Goran's eye and his camera - he is a very bright guy. Interesting. Is that just an artistic effect, or a physical reality? a physical reality !! It's news to me if guitar strings actually vibrate in that way. me too maybe :-)) -- I have to have another look :-) Music is a big part of my life these days. I sing in my church's choir, where we do traditional anthems, both contemporary and classical.  Also, wonderful. In Switzerland so many people sing in choires. must have put in to record Dancing Hands. It's a very interesting, though time-consuming process. Both bands are cover bands, but one of You bet! sound engineering took sooooooooo long. I guess the better you get at it the shorter it should take... Keep up the good work with your music. I believe good music is very spiritual, in a sense a connection to all that is spiritual around us, and yours definitely falls in that category. ~X

1783. Good to hear from you… The CD is great. I listened to it again after I got your email. Frankly I hadn't read the write-up on your website carefully so I wasn't sure what the music would be like, but I enjoyed it totally. I of course recognized many of the pieces, but I didn't know the composer Sanz. The musicianship was *great* throughout. It also seemed that you wanted to show the classical underpinnings of contemporary, popular songs. In fact, there was a popular, melodius Top 40 song (a female group, I'm sure) from the 1960's that was based on the first Bach piece on the CD that I think has "Lullaby" or "Lover's" in the title. Until I heard the Bach piece I didn't know that. I wish I could think of the name of the song! I read through much of the long but interesting brochure that comes with the CD, and saw K's picture and at least 1 quote from his writings. I also read that one of your degrees is in computer science.... Anyway, I lent your CD to a guy I work with, who has gotten to be a very good programmer, but actually has a Ph.D. in music and used to be a college teacher. He plays trombone in the local symphony (I live in s. Oregon), but is learning the guitar. He also thought the CD was very good. Take care, good luck, and thanks for the very enjoyable music. ~S. 1837. You can hear that it was a lot of hard work. For example, the instruments are together at the end as they go out of the piece, very fine, together, to stop and go out is fine art. This is just one example - there are a lot of points that shows it was hard work, this is one of the points. For instance when you have a cello or guitar as an accompaniment, it's not too loud, and not too low, so exactly measured that it's something fantastic. Like Lily Kraus etc. they play ensamble together but one is not dominating, it is hard work [to do that right]. I wish you luck and hope you continue to make excellent CD's. ~Benjamin D.

1845. Having picked up a few er um vibes about these works here, I bought 'em. I like them. It's entertainment. It is listenable, and folk with no special interest in CG would buy them happily. If Reza was to accidentally drop in to an Edinburgh pub and find a flute player and fiddle player, he'd probably oblige them to reveal a few classical pieces as well as the usual O'Carolan and trad.anon - and be very well received.

It's unusual to find a guitarist who is willing to let the instrument play all its roles - as an understated accompaniment, allowing other musicians front of stage, as well as a solo performance. I have particular empathy with that as I really enjoy providing accompaniment to other musicians (nothing really puts as big a grin on my face as hearing something well played and thinking I am not wrecking it!).

1848. And Angelo Gilardino's pieces which Reza has performed are ABSOLUTELY in the tradition. Their connection to the variations, structures and underlying motifs of European music from 300-100 years ago is amazingly clear, and it's almost as if a couple of centuries of composers for drawing-rooms and salons from Ireland to Hungary have found voices again. 1849. Actually, though Reza's CD's are pleasant to listen to. Many people could learn a thing or two from his playing. He plays very musical and doesn't butcher music that is too difficult for him. That is a rarity. I might give him a hard time about some of his posts around here, but he does deliver good music. In fact, it is a refreshing foil to my listening. I even enjoy listening to something as simple as Forgotten Songs. ~SW

1850. Look, there are many people who would buy Reza's CD and just love it, yet be bored with a CP CD. Different strokes for different folks. He and his group joined efforts and produced something that took their individual talents and elevated it, which is still nothing to sneeze at.. A lot of players who (perhaps) play a lot better have done a lot less. I hope that made and continue to make a bundle. If he just got $1 from every person who might enjoy it, he could retire. 1851. I'll say again, I like the Cd's. I think we could all learn from them. The Cd's are what they are and aren't what they're not. A little bit of this can go a long way in a performance and can provide relief to a demanding (either on the player or listener's part) program. After hearing a big monster Sor piece that doesn't get played enough, some large and obscure sonata published this year, and (you fill in the blank) it is nice to hear in the second half at least a little bit of Tarrega, Malats or whatever else. Itzhak Perlman is one I've seen do this type of program well. It simply works. We need variation. I'm afraid so many are concerned with finding unknown gems, that music like this doesn't get a little bit of attention. In music like this, you can't hide. And Reza does a pretty good job with it, and is more musical than many world class players I will respectfully not name. ~SW

1861. So I finished listening to your cd's --really beautiful harmonized music Reza. I listened to first cd "In Friendship" first while driving without reading anything you had written in the pamphlet and I absolutely love no. 11 Serenata Espanola. It reminds me of something but I can't for the life of me put my finger on it. Something incredibly familiar. And no. 2 - Recollection with it's lovely melody truly dances in my heart. But no. 11 is so different and just gorgeous sound of the guitar chords. I don't know much about instruments although we have guitars and piano at home for my boys, I have never played an instrument. I just adore music particularly the guitar and violin. I listened to no. 11 multiple times. I think whenever I hear the mixture of guitar and violin it really speaks to my soul.  I listened to your Dancing Hands cd today while driving and it's lovely as well and of course I did recognize the Minuet and couple of Prelude's by Bach (I have the cd's and listen to it at home) but what I loved more than anything was the two Anonymous pieces no. 11 and 12 which again made perfect sense to me later because I recognized the Renaissance era and later on when I read your pamphlet, I realized it to be true. As you know that's an area of my emphasis so I recognized it right away. One of my other favorite pieces was your solo guitar no. 13 Bianco Fiore. Enjoyed it very much! You can envision the chords literally dancing. I love guitar with violin but not a huge fan of the sound of the flute. Thank you again for your the gorgeous thoughtful gift. How did you know I love music especially the guitar?

The Spanish Romance is a wonderfully catchy piece of music and the idea of interpreting this piece with different musicians is very exciting and has thrilled me.
